Last updated September 16, 2026. A plain-language explanation of what we collect and why.
UrSkools is managed by Swinson Technologies Limited ("Swinson Technologies Limited," "we," "us," "our"), which provides a school management platform used by administrators, teachers, parents, and students. This policy explains what information we collect through the platform, how we use it, and the choices available to schools and families. By using UrSkools, a school agrees to this policy on behalf of the staff, students, and parents it enrolls.
We collect information in three broad categories:
We use collected information to operate the features a school has enabled: displaying dashboards, generating report cards, grading CBT exams, processing payroll, and giving parents visibility into their child's records. We also use aggregated, de-identified data to improve platform performance and reliability. We do not use student or staff data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell personal data.
Student records are entered and controlled by the school, which acts as the data controller under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) issued under it. UrSkools, managed by Swinson Technologies Limited, acts as the data processor, storing and displaying that data only as instructed by the school. Where a school also enrols students or families based in the EU or UK, the same controller/processor split applies under the GDPR. Parents can view their own child's records through the Parent Portal; students can view their own academic progress. We do not disclose student data to any party outside the school without the school's authorization, except where required by law.
Every school can name a Data Protection Officer and reach it from Settings > School in the dashboard. Schools that haven't set one are reminded in-app and by email a few times a month until they do.
Data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS. Access to school records is restricted by role, so a teacher cannot see another class's fee records, and a parent can only see their own child's data. A school administrator can download the school's data at any time.
We retain academic and billing records for as long as a school's account is active. When a school closes its account, its records move to a 90-day recovery window before permanent deletion, giving time to support record requests such as transcripts or to undo an accidental closure. After that window, the records are permanently purged from our systems, subject to any legal retention requirements that apply to academic or billing records in the school's jurisdiction.
Under the NDPR and, where applicable, the GDPR, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or request deletion of your personal data. A school administrator can export their school's full data or submit a deletion request at any time from Settings > School in the dashboard; submitting a request opens it for our team's review rather than deleting anything instantly, since some records carry their own legal retention requirements we check first. Parents and students should first contact their school's administrator, who can reach us on their behalf, or write to us directly using the contact details below.
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated to school administrators by email at least 14 days before taking effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
